How to Create a Record Wall

Our playroom makeover is coming along nicely, and I'm having so much fun coming up with unique art to complete the space! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw a sneak peak of today's project while I was speed shopping through a 3 story antique warehouse with a hungry 3 year old in tow! Yikes!

My sweet little shopping trooper and I were on a hunt for some old records I spotted last time we were in the store. The bright color labels on the records immediately caught my eye, and I thought they would be so fun to hang in a grouping on their wall! So today I'm sharing with you how I created a Record Wall in their playroom:

I picked up sixteen records from the antique store for about 50 cents each. I don't know if that was a rip off or a steal, but I thought $8 for a big art display wasn't a bad price! I tried to pick a few records in each color to add the most impact on the wall. 

After gently cleaning the dust off the records, I laid them out on a table to visualize where I wanted each color to go. I decided to put them in a square with four rows of four records, but you could go crazy with the shape or color pattern of your records!

After contemplating how to best hang the records on the wall, I found this Scotch Permanent Mounting Tape at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be perfect!

I just cut 2" pieces of tape to use on the top and bottom of the records, peeled off the backing and stuck them on the wall! It couldn't be easier and I didn't have to make a single nail hole! I just love those kind of projects : )

I added the records to a little reading corner in the boy's playroom, and here is the space before:

Don't those records look awesome up on the wall? All those circles just make me smile : )

So fun for a playroom!

My boys said, "What on Earth are those things on our wall? Are they like CDs?" 

Oh, do they have a way of making me feel old!

I added a green rug and an old rocking chair to make their reading corner nice and cozy. I'd love to paint the bookcase and chair someday, but for now I added a pillow I made using extra fabric from their curtain valances.

The record wall was such an easy project and added a ton of personality to the space! I've got a few more projects up my sleeve before I'm ready to show you the room reveal, so stay tuned!
